Q. Are your installers employees or subcontractors?
A. Our installation work is performed by factory-trained installers. We only provide installation service in Prescott, Prescott Valley, Dewey, and Chino Valley, Arizona. For questions about the employment or contractor status of a specific installer, please contact our team.
Q. Do you install everywhere that you ship?
A. No. Our factory-trained installation service is available only in Prescott, Prescott Valley, Dewey, and Chino Valley, Arizona.
We ship our slide-out shelves throughout the United States except Alaska and Hawaii. We do not ship to Canada.
Customers outside our local installation area can order our made-to-fit slide-out shelves for DIY installation or have a local handyperson install them.
Q. Do Standard and Dovetail slide-out shelves use the same measuring instructions?
A. No. Standard and Dovetail products have different measuring requirements.
For Standard Slide-Out Shelves, use our Standard Measuring Guide. Do not automatically subtract 3/8", 1/2", 5/8", or another amount unless the Standard instructions specifically tell you to do so.
Dovetail products have product-specific measuring requirements. Always use the measuring instructions on the specific Dovetail product page. Do not assume one deduction applies to every Dovetail product.
Q. What materials are your Standard shelves and Dovetail drawers made from?
A. Standard Slide-Out Shelves have Baltic birch plywood sidewalls. Standard shelf bottoms are available in birch or white melamine.
Dovetail drawer sidewalls are available in Baltic birch plywood or solid 5/8" birch wood, depending on the product. Dovetail drawer bottoms are birch plywood.
All shelf and drawer bottoms are captured in a groove. Check the specific product page for exact construction and available options.
Q. Where are the dovetail joints located on a Dovetail drawer?
A. The dovetail joints or pins are located on the drawer sidewalls. They should not be exposed on the drawer front. The drawer front should be clean with no visible dovetail joints.
Dovetail drawers use concealed bottom-mounted slides and have two clips underneath as part of the slide system. Exact construction, slide mounting, measuring, and installation requirements may vary by Dovetail product, so always check the specific product page.
Q. What warranty comes with your slide-out shelves?
A. Slide Out Shelves LLC warrants our slide-out shelves against defects in workmanship for one year from the date of purchase.
The warranty does not cover damage caused by misuse, improper use, overloading, or exceeding the product's rated weight capacity.
Slides, hardware, accessories, and other options are covered by their respective warranties. Warranty claims must be reviewed before any repair, replacement, refund, or other resolution is determined.
Q. Can I return a slide-out shelf if I measured my cabinet incorrectly?
A. Most made-to-fit and special-order products are not returnable when the customer provides incorrect measurements. Please review our Terms and Conditions before ordering.
If you believe we manufactured a shelf to the wrong size, email a clear photo showing a tape measure across the width of the shelf, along with your name, phone number, and order number. Our team will review the information before determining the appropriate resolution.
Q. What should I do if my slide-out shelf arrives damaged?
A. Email clear photos of the damaged product and the packaging, if the packaging is still available, to [email protected]. Include your first and last name, phone number, order number if available, and a brief description of the damage.
If the packaging has already been discarded, you can still submit photos of the damaged product for review. Our team must review the claim before any replacement, refund, or other resolution is determined.
Q. How long will my order take to arrive?
A. Standard Slide-Out Shelves normally require 2–3 business days for production. Other made-to-order products may require up to 10 business days, and special-order products normally require 4–5 business days.
After production, shipping transit is typically 2–5 business days. Carrier transit times can vary, and delivery dates are not guaranteed. Please do not rely on an estimated timeframe as a guaranteed delivery date.
Q. How much does shipping cost?
A. Shipping charges are calculated by the carrier based on the size and weight of the order. We do not use one flat shipping rate.
To see the shipping charge before ordering, add the products to your shopping cart and select “Calculate Shipping/Handling.”
We ship throughout the United States except Alaska and Hawaii. We do not ship to Canada.
Q. Do you offer coupons, sales, or quantity discounts?
A. We do not offer coupons, sales, or promotional codes.
Quantity pricing for large orders is available for orders of 50 or more slide-out shelves. Our team will provide the applicable quantity pricing for qualifying orders. Do not assume or apply a specific discount percentage.
Orders of fewer than 50 shelves use the current pricing shown on our website.
Q. Can I place my order over the phone?
A. Yes. If you would like personal assistance placing an order, we can have a member of our team call you.
Phone orders have a $25.00 charge.
Brooke can collect your first and last name, phone number, email address, and information about the products you want to order so our team can contact you. If you prefer to avoid the phone-order charge, you can place your order directly through our website.
Q. Can Standard Slide-Out Shelves be mounted to the bottom of my cabinet?
A. Yes. Standard Slide-Out Shelves normally use side-mounted slides. When side mounting is not appropriate, four optional L-brackets can be used to mount a Standard shelf to the cabinet bottom or to a fixed shelf.
These L-bracket instructions apply to Standard Slide-Out Shelves. Do not assume the same mounting method applies to Dovetail products. Dovetail products have product-specific mounting and installation requirements.
Q. How much weight can a slide-out shelf hold?
A. Weight capacity depends on the specific shelf and slide system. Our heavy-duty slides are rated at approximately 100 lbs static and 75 lbs dynamic.
Static capacity refers to weight supported while the shelf is stationary. Dynamic capacity refers to weight supported while the shelf is being pulled in and out.
Always check the specific product page for the exact weight rating before loading the shelf. Do not exceed the rated capacity. If the intended moving load exceeds the dynamic rating, do not tell the customer that the load is acceptable.
Q. How can I tell whether I have a Standard or Dovetail slide-out shelf?
A. Check the slide system, drawer sides, and underside.
Standard Slide-Out Shelves use side-mounted slides.
Dovetail drawers use concealed bottom-mounted slides. Dovetail joints or pins are located on the drawer sidewalls, and there are two clips underneath as part of the slide system.
If you are still unsure which product you have, email clear photos of the sidewalls and underside to [email protected]. Include your first and last name and phone number so our team can help identify it.
Always identify the product type before using measuring or installation instructions.
Q. What if I still can't tell whether my shelf is Standard or Dovetail?
A. If the product type is still unclear, please email photos to [email protected].
Send clear photos showing:
The shelf sidewalls
The underside of the shelf
The slide system
Include your first and last name, phone number, email address, and order number if available.
Our team will review the photos and help identify the product. Do not use measuring or installation instructions until you know whether the product is Standard or Dovetail.
Q. Can I install the slide-out shelves myself?
A. Yes. Our slide-out shelves can be installed by customers or by a local handyperson.
For Standard Slide-Out Shelves, use our Standard Installation Guide at https://slideoutshelvesllc.com/installation-guide.
For Dovetail products, do not use the Standard Installation Guide. Installation requirements vary by Dovetail product, so always follow the installation instructions provided on the specific Dovetail product page.
If you are unsure which product you have, identify whether it is Standard or Dovetail before beginning installation.
Q. Can your slide-out shelves be installed in face-frame and frameless cabinets?
A. Yes. Our slide-out shelves can be installed in many face-frame and frameless cabinets.
Before giving measuring, sizing, or installation instructions, first determine whether the customer is purchasing a Standard Slide-Out Shelf or a Dovetail drawer. Do not assume Standard.
For Standard Slide-Out Shelves, follow our Standard Measuring Guide and Standard Installation Guide.
For Dovetail products, use the product-specific measuring and installation instructions on the individual Dovetail product page.
Do not calculate, suggest, or assume a shelf width or measurement deduction based only on the cabinet opening or whether the cabinet is face-frame or frameless.
Q. How do I measure for a slide-out shelf in a cabinet with two doors and a center stile?
A. Yes, slide-out shelves can often be installed in cabinets with a center stile, but the correct measuring and mounting method depends on the cabinet and the product being purchased.
First determine whether you are purchasing a Standard Slide-Out Shelf or a Dovetail product.
Do not remove or modify the center stile based on general instructions. For Standard shelves, follow our Standard Measuring Guide. For Dovetail products, follow the product-specific measuring instructions on the individual product page.
Extra caution is required with granite, quartz, stone, or other heavy countertops. A center stile may help support the cabinet structure. Removing or modifying it could weaken the cabinet and may contribute to countertop damage or cracking. Before altering a center stile, verify that the countertop is adequately supported by a suitable substrate or other structural support.
If you are unsure how to measure your cabinet or whether the center stile can be safely modified, email our team at [email protected] before proceeding.
Q. What if my cabinet hinges stick into the opening?
A. Cabinet hinges, doors, or other hardware can reduce the usable opening and may affect measuring and installation.
First determine whether you are purchasing a Standard Slide-Out Shelf or a Dovetail product.
For Standard shelves, follow our Standard Measuring Guide and measure according to those instructions. For Dovetail products, follow the product-specific measuring instructions on the individual product page.
Do not calculate or assume a shelf width based only on the cabinet opening. Make sure hinges, doors, and other obstructions are considered when measuring.
If you are unsure, email our team at [email protected] before ordering.
Q. What if my cabinet door or hinge does not open far enough for a slide-out shelf?
A. The slide-out shelf needs enough clearance to move in and out without hitting the cabinet door, hinges, or other hardware.
First determine whether you are purchasing a Standard Slide-Out Shelf or a Dovetail product.
Do not assume the cabinet opening width alone determines the correct shelf size. Doors, hinges, face frames, and other obstructions can affect the usable opening and required clearance.
For Standard shelves, follow our Standard Measuring Guide. For Dovetail products, follow the product-specific measuring instructions on the individual product page.
If the door or hinge may interfere with the shelf, email photos of the cabinet opening, doors, and hinges to [email protected] before ordering.
Q. Do I need a shorter slide-out shelf if plumbing or a garbage disposal is in the back of my cabinet?
A. Yes. Slide-out shelves can often be installed under sinks, but plumbing, drain lines, water valves, garbage disposals, and other obstructions must be considered.
First determine whether you are purchasing a Standard Slide-Out Shelf or a Dovetail product.
Under-sink installations often require a shorter shelf length/depth so the shelf does not hit plumbing, a garbage disposal, drain lines, valves, or other obstructions when sliding in and out.
Do not determine the shelf width or length from the cabinet dimensions alone. Measure the available clear space and consider the location of all obstructions.
For Standard shelves, follow our Standard Measuring Guide. For Dovetail products, follow the product-specific measuring instructions.
If you are unsure, email photos of the open cabinet showing the plumbing and obstructions to [email protected] before ordering.
Q. Can I install a slide-out shelf on an existing adjustable cabinet shelf?
A. Yes, a Standard Slide-Out Shelf can be mounted to a suitable existing cabinet shelf using four optional L-brackets. However, an adjustable or removable shelf must be adequately supported and securely fastened so it cannot move, lift, or tip when the slide-out shelf is extended.
Do not mount a slide-out shelf to a loose or unsupported adjustable shelf.
This L-bracket mounting method applies to Standard Slide-Out Shelves. Dovetail products have product-specific mounting requirements.
If you are unsure whether your existing shelf is suitable, email photos of the cabinet and shelf to [email protected] before installation.
Q. Can I install multiple slide-out shelves in one cabinet or pantry?
A. Yes. Multiple slide-out shelves can often be installed in the same base cabinet, tall cabinet, or pantry to improve access and storage.
The number of shelves and their spacing depend on the usable cabinet height, the items you plan to store, and any hinges, shelves, plumbing, or other obstructions inside the cabinet.
Adjustable mounting systems such as pilasters can also be used in some installations to allow shelf positions to be changed over time.
For Standard Slide-Out Shelves, follow our Standard measuring and installation instructions. Dovetail products have product-specific requirements.
Before ordering multiple shelves, make sure there is enough vertical clearance for the items being stored and enough clearance for each shelf to operate without interference.
Q. How many slide-out shelves should I install in a cabinet or pantry?
A. There is no single number that works for every cabinet. The best number of slide-out shelves depends on the cabinet height, what you plan to store, and the amount of vertical clearance each item requires.
Base cabinets commonly benefit from multiple pull-outs when there is enough usable height. Tall pantry cabinets can accommodate additional shelves when properly spaced.
Before ordering, consider the height of pots, pans, small appliances, food containers, or other items you plan to store. Also check for hinges, plumbing, existing shelves, and other obstructions.
Adjustable mounting systems such as pilasters may be useful when you want the ability to change shelf positions later.
Q. What is a pilaster system for slide-out shelves?
A. A pilaster system provides an adjustable way to mount multiple slide-out shelves inside a cabinet or pantry. Instead of permanently fixing every shelf at one height, the system allows shelf positions to be adjusted as your storage needs change.
Pilasters can be especially useful in pantry and tall-cabinet installations where several pull-out shelves are stacked vertically and you may want to change the spacing later.
The number and position of shelves should be based on the cabinet's usable interior space, the items being stored, and any hinges or other obstructions.
Learn more about our Adjustable Pullout Shelf Pilaster System.
Q. Can I add slide-out shelves to my existing kitchen cabinets?
A. Yes. Slide-out shelves are designed to improve the storage and accessibility of many existing kitchen, bathroom, pantry, and utility cabinets without replacing the cabinets.
The pull-out shelf installs inside the existing cabinet and is hidden when the cabinet door is closed. This provides convenient drawer-like access while allowing you to keep your existing cabinet doors and cabinet structure.
Before ordering, check the cabinet opening and interior for hinges, plumbing, center stiles, shelves, or other obstructions that could affect the available space.
Standard and Dovetail products have different measuring and installation requirements, so first determine which product you are purchasing and follow the correct measuring instructions.
Q. Will I lose storage space when I install slide-out shelves?
A. Slide-out shelves and their hardware use some interior cabinet space, so there may be a small reduction in usable width or overall storage space.
However, pull-out shelves can make the cabinet much easier to use because items stored toward the back can be brought forward where they are easier to see and reach. This can make the available cabinet space more practical and accessible.
The amount of usable space depends on the cabinet, shelf design, slide system, and any hinges, plumbing, center stiles, or other obstructions.
Standard and Dovetail products have different construction and mounting requirements, so review the specific product information before ordering.
Q. What slide options are available for Standard Slide-Out Shelves, including full-extension and soft-close slides?
A. The amount a slide-out shelf extends depends on the slide system selected.
Our Standard Slide-Out Shelves are available with:
3/4-extension slides – the standard option.
Full-extension slides – allow the shelf to extend farther for easier access to items toward the back.
Full-extension slides with soft close – provide full extension with a soft-close feature when the shelf is pushed back into the cabinet.
Dovetail products use concealed bottom-mounted slides, and the available slide features vary by product.
Always check the specific product page for the slide options, extension, and weight capacity available for the shelf you are ordering.
Q. What is the difference between full-extension and soft-close slides for pull-out shelves?
A. Both options allow a Standard Slide-Out Shelf to extend farther out of the cabinet than the standard 3/4-extension slide, making items toward the back easier to reach.
Full-extension slides allow the shelf to travel farther out of the cabinet for improved access.
Full-extension soft-close slides provide full extension plus a soft-close feature that helps the shelf close smoothly when pushed back into the cabinet.
Standard Slide-Out Shelves are available with 3/4-extension, full-extension, and full-extension soft-close slide options.
Check the Standard Slide-Out Shelf product page for current slide options and pricing.
Q. What is the difference between 3/4-extension and full-extension slides for pull-out shelves?
A. Standard Slide-Out Shelves are available with 3/4-extension, full-extension, and full-extension soft-close slide options.
3/4-extension slides are the standard option and allow most of the shelf to pull out of the cabinet.
Full-extension slides allow the shelf to travel farther out of the cabinet, providing easier access to items stored toward the back.
Full-extension soft-close slides provide the additional access of full extension along with a soft-close feature.
The best option depends on the amount of access you want and your budget. Check the Standard Slide-Out Shelf product page for current slide options and pricing.
Q. Which slide option should I choose for my Standard Slide-Out Shelves?
A. The best slide option depends on the amount of access and closing feature you want.
3/4-extension slides are the standard option and allow most of the shelf to extend out of the cabinet.
Full-extension slides allow the shelf to travel farther out, making items toward the back easier to reach.
Full-extension soft-close slides provide full extension plus a soft-close feature for a smoother, controlled closing action.
Choose based on the amount of access you want, whether you want the soft-close feature, and your budget. Check the Standard Slide-Out Shelf product page for current slide options and pricing.
Q. What sidewall heights are available for Standard Slide-Out Shelves?
A. Standard Slide-Out Shelves are available in these outside sidewall heights:
2?", 3", 3½", 4?", and 7?".
The shelf bottom is ¼" thick and is captured in a dado groove positioned ½" above the bottom of the sidewall. Because of this construction, the usable inside depth is approximately ¾" less than the outside sidewall height.
Choose a sidewall height based on the items you plan to store and the available vertical clearance inside your cabinet. Check the Standard Slide-Out Shelf product page for current options and pricing.
Q. How do I choose the sidewall height for my Standard Slide-Out Shelf?
A. Choose the sidewall height based on the items you plan to store and the available vertical clearance inside your cabinet.
Lower sidewalls can work well when you want easier access to smaller items, while taller sidewalls can help contain taller items.
Standard Slide-Out Shelves are available in outside sidewall heights of 2-3/8", 3", 3-1/2", 4-7/8", and 7-3/8".
The usable inside height is approximately 3/4" less than the outside sidewall height. Be sure there is enough clearance above the items stored on the shelf and for any cabinet obstructions.
There is no single sidewall height that is best for every cabinet. Choose based on what you plan to store and the space available.
Q. What does shelf length or depth mean when ordering a Standard Slide-Out Shelf?
A. Shelf length or depth refers to the front-to-back dimension of the slide-out shelf inside the cabinet. It is different from the shelf width and sidewall height.
The correct shelf length depends on the usable front-to-back space inside the cabinet and any obstructions such as plumbing, drain lines, valves, garbage disposals, or other hardware.
Do not choose a shelf length from the cabinet's outside dimensions. Measure the available clear space using the Standard Measuring Guide before ordering.
For Dovetail products, use the measuring instructions on the specific Dovetail product page.
Q. Why are Standard Slide-Out Shelves listed in different width ranges?
A. Standard Slide-Out Shelves are divided into three ordering ranges:
6"–16" wide
16"–26" wide
26"–36" wide
Select the range that contains the finished shelf width you need. For example, a finished shelf wider than 26" must be ordered from the 26"–36" range, not the 6"–16" range.
Standard shelves require exact finished dimensions for ordering and shipping. Do not assume the cabinet opening is the finished shelf width. Use the Standard Measuring Guide to determine the exact shelf dimensions before ordering.
Dovetail drawers use a different ordering system and product-specific measuring instructions. Do not apply the Standard width-range ordering process to Dovetail products.
If you are unsure which Standard product range to order, provide your name and either your phone number or email address, and our team can help.
Q. What should I do if I need help choosing or ordering the correct slide-out shelf?
A. if you are unsure which product, size, or option to order, our team can help.
Provide your first and last name and either your phone number or email address, along with your question or what you are trying to order. Our team will follow up with you.
If you prefer a callback, provide your name and phone number. If you prefer an email reply, provide your name and email address.
This is especially helpful when your question cannot be answered from the measuring guide or product information.
Q. What types of pull-out spice racks do you offer?
A. We offer both custom made-to-fit and premade pull-out spice racks. Our made-to-fit spice racks start with models for 4–5 inch clear cabinet openings and are available in additional opening ranges, heights and depths. We also carry several premade styles, including No Wiggle, wire, filler and other specialty spice racks. Proper measurements are important when selecting a rack.
Q. How do I measure for a made-to-fit pull-out spice rack?
A. Measure the clear cabinet opening width at its narrowest point. We recommend subtracting 1/8 inch from the clear opening measurement when ordering a made-to-fit pull-out spice rack. Also check the available cabinet height and depth before ordering. Made-to-order spice racks cannot be changed, canceled, or returned, so accurate measurements are important.
Q. What sizes are available for made-to-fit pull-out spice racks?
A. Our made-to-fit pull-out spice racks are available for a variety of clear cabinet opening widths, starting with 4–5 inch openings up to 11 inch wide. They are available in 18-inch or 25-inch heights and depths of 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, or 22 inches. Choose the size based on your clear cabinet opening, available height, and cabinet depth.
Q. What is the difference between the 18-inch and 25-inch made-to-fit spice racks?
A. The 18-inch height is designed for kitchen cabinets with a drawer or false front above the cabinet opening. The 25-inch height is designed for cabinets without a drawer or false front above the opening and for most upper cabinets. Always measure the available height before ordering.
Q. What features are included with the made-to-fit pull-out spice racks?
A. Our made-to-fit pull-out spice racks include full-extension ball-bearing slides, a bottom shelf and an adjustable top shelf with 2-3/8-inch sidewalls. Optional adjustable middle shelves are available to create a 3- or 4-shelf unit. The top rails allow taller items to extend above the top of the rack.
Q. Do you offer premade pull-out spice racks?
A. Yes. In addition to our made-to-fit spice racks, we offer several premade pull-out spice rack styles in standard sizes, including wood, wire, No Wiggle, filler and other specialty designs. Because dimensions and installation requirements vary by product, check the individual product specifications and measuring information before ordering.
Q. What payment types do you accept?
A. We accept Pay Pal Venmo and Visa Mastercard Discover
